Discipling Children

Jubilee Kids exists to glorify God by helping make disciples of 1st-5th grade children in our church and community.

“What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” – Philippians 4:9

Discipling Members’ Children

Children of members are encouraged in their faith by relationships with adult believers who compliment the discipleship they receive at home. In addition to mentorship connections, Jubilee Kids provides an opportunity for children to make friends with other Christian kids, and love those who do not yet know Jesus.

Discipling Children from the Community

"The average expected experience of childhood now includes living in the absence of one’s natural father.”1 Recognizing that God is a “Father of the fatherless” (Psalm 68:5), Jubilee Kids aims to move into this need and provide discipleship for those who have no other relationship with followers of Jesus.

Teaching, Memorizing, and Singing God’s Word

The minds of children are very malleable and spongelike in their younger years, which means it is a strategic time to fill their minds with Scripture. The Word of God is central in all we do because through it children put their faith in Christ.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17

Jubilee Kids prioritizes teaching God's Word in clear, understandable and engaging ways at age-appropriate levels. We also discuss the lesson and memorize the Scripture in mentor groups, encouraging children to diligently soak in the Word, and apply it. Scriptural songs are sung as a larger group to encourage both mouths and hearts to respond to God in praise (Ephesians 5:19 & Colossians 3:16).

Partnering with Parents

Parents are the main disciplers of their children (Ephesians 6:4). Jubilee Kids recognizes this God-given responsibility and encourages it by providing biblical resources to be used at home. We also invite parents to serve alongside of us as we aim to create a safe, hospitable, Gospel-centered environment where children and neighbors can experience the love of Jesus.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children...” – Deuteronomy 6:6–7

Caring for the Whole Child

Jesus cared for the whole person in his ministry. He not only preached, but healed. He not only cast out demons, but fed people. While spiritual concerns were his priority, he showed us that love aims to meet all types of needs.

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.”Matthew 9:35

Jubilee Kids provides homework help and a warm, nutritious meal first thing so children can begin connecting with their mentors. There are also games the children enjoy for exercise, connecting and just plain fun!
