Remembering Our Former Condition
As we march our way through Ephesians 2, Paul is not done with calling us to remember our former condition. This past Sunday we recalled our former condition of being spiritually dead and as we dig into 2:11-22 we will see our former condition of not being in a covenant relationship with God just like the nation of Israel was. However, Paul’s call to remember is not for us to wallow in our past condition. But remembering our past highlights the glorious sufficiency of Triune work. Ephesians 2:1-10 highlighted the Father’s work on our behalf and Ephesians 2:11-22 highlights the work of Christ.
What should be our response to these things? Recall our Jubilee bookmarks — The Trinitarian work of salvation culminates in the praise of glorious grace.
Grace and Peace,
