He Who Promised is Faithful
Recently, I was reminded by a good brother about Hebrews 10:23: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. I wonder if Mordecai had the Lord’s faithfulness in mind when he reminded Esther of the inevitable outcome for God’s people — relief and deliverance would arise for the Jews from another place (4:14). I don’t get a sense that he knew how, if not from Esther. That’s real talk to me, though. We are not privy to insider information on how the Lord would demonstrate his faithfulness. We know he will. This gives Mordecai the freedom to both grieve the edict and obey the queen in fasting. This gives Esther the boldness to go into the precarious presence of the Xerxes uninvited. The Lord’s faithfulness is our firm foundation. The Lord will take care of his people. He has proved that through the death, burial, and resurrection of His son. Deliverance, redemption, and provision are all secured for the people of God. It is rocky out here these days. Rest in the one who sees to it that his promises come to pass in your life.
